13/11/2009: 13/11/2009Third unlicensed contractor brought to court this week

Friday 13th November 2009:  The Private Security Authority achieved its third successful outcome in a prosecution case in as many days at Tralee District Court today. Tommy O'Sullivan an electrical contractor from Farranfore, Co Kerry pleaded guilty to a charge for breach of the Private Security Services Act 2004.  Mr. O'Sullivan had been operating as an Installer of Intruder Alarms without a licence.

Judge James O'Connor ordered Mr O'Sullivan to pay €750 to the court poor box and applied the Probation Act.

This court decision follows the convictions of Brian Lee Limited at Longford District Court on Tuesday and Alan McNally at Naas District Court yesterday.

Speaking following today's decision, Ms Geraldine Larkin CEO of the Authority stated "We are committed to removing unlicensed operators from the security industry and will continue to take prosecutions against those who break the law. Our Inspectors are pursuing non-compliant operators throughout the country and further cases will be before the courts in the coming weeks."
