Renewing Your Licence

Licences are issued for a period of two years. Prior to the expiry of the licence you should lodge an application to renew the licence with the PSA. The PSA will contact you in advance of the expiry of the licence to remind you of your obligation to renew. However, it is the licence holders responsibility to ensure that they hold a valid licence and that they lodge their renewal application on time.

Licence holders who fail to renew their licence before the expiry date will be removed from the register of licence holders and risk prosecution for providing a security service without a licence.

Applications to renew a licence must include the following:

  • Completed Application Form
  • Prescribed Licence Fee
    (Information on fees is available from the menu on the left of this page)
  • Current Tax Clearance Certificate
  • Auditors Turnover Certificate or confirmation of turnover from contractors accountant
  • Foreign Criminal Record Certificate
    (Please refer to the information on Foreign Criminal Record Certificates in the Contractor Renewal Pack)
  • Evidence of attainment of the required standard(s)

Incomplete applications will be rejected and returned to the applicant.

It is an offence under section 38 of the Private Security Services Acts to provide a security service without a licence. A contractor should not engage in any licensable activity until they are in possession of a valid licence issued by the PSA
